Black Hat SEO Techniques

Black hat SEO is used by websites to achieve a higher search ranking through the use of techniques that do not conform to search engine requirements. There are several factors that influence the way that a search engine will index a website. One way that search engines will rank your pages is based on the keyword density of your content. Another way that search engines rank your web page is by back links. Back links are other web pages linking to your web page. A back link insinuates that the linked website is one that is relevant to the visitor.

Black hat SEO is using techniques such as keyword stuffing and invisible text to achieve a higher search ranking. Keyword stuffing is adding an overabundance of keywords to your Meta tags as well as multiple variations of keywords to your content to make your website appear more relevant to search engines. This makes the content on your website difficult to read and gives the overall impression of inferior content. Another form of keyword stuffing is invisible text. Invisible text is including text into your webpage and then making it the same color as the background.

Doorway pages are built to rank well in the search engines; however, they do not possess any quality content of their own. These pages then link or auto redirects the visitor to the real website. Cloaking is another black hat SEO technique. Cloaking is showing one page to the search engine and another page to the website visitor.

Spamdexing is another form of Black hat SEO. Spamdexing techniques are a way of creating back links to your website. These techniques include using link farms, hidden links, and comment spam. Link farms are groups of websites that link back to each other. These link farms can be human generated or generated using software. Hidden links is including links into your web page where visitors will not see them. Comment spam is used to insert links into comment pages, blogs and guest books. These individuals insert non-relevant comments in order to assign a link to their web page.

Black hat SEO techniques are strictly frowned upon by search engines. Websites that are discovered to be employing these techniques may be punished by the search engines. Websites can be penalized by the search engines by having their rank reduced. The other form of punishment is being banned. This is having your website removed from the search engine rankings completely.
